Tips to prepare for your Ultrasound

First thing to remember is that your baby is in charge! In saying that, there are a few things that you can do to try and help get the best scan possible.

Drinking a cold and sugary beverage approximately 1/2 hour before your scheduled scan and or eating a sweet treat can help get your baby active. However, every baby is different even at this early stage and you know your baby best, their routine (after 19 weeks they have already started developing a sleep schedule), reaction to food and drinks, so you might have the best receipt to get your baby moving for your scan.

However, if your baby decides it is nap time when you arrive for your visit, we can still capture great images of your baby fast asleep.

Remember, it is important for both your health and your baby’s, to consume the daily recommended amount of fluids and water. Even being diligent a few weeks prior to your scheduled scan, you can help improve the clarity and brilliance of your images. The you drink clear liquids you will help to raise the levels of fluids in your system and therefore increase your fluids around the baby. The more fluids… the clearer the image.

You do not need a full bladder as you do for your routine medical scan.

Wear comfortable clothing, as you will have to expose your tummy for the scan.

Things out of our control:
positioning of the baby, placenta and umbilical cord… sometimes there are things that we just can’t control…. it’s nature!
